I wanted a simple shelf to hang over our wall heater. It had to be small but different. After searching around for inspiration I found what I wanted, a nice round metal shelf. The problem was the price tag so I set out to create my own.
First I found an inexpensive galvanized pan that would serve as the foundation of the shelf. They I just scrounged up some scrap wood, and bought some d-ring picture hangers, screws, and sisal rope.
At first getting the shelf measurements right was a little tricky with the tapered sides of the pan but suing cardboard to create a template went a long way. Watch the video below to see how it all turned out!
